Abstract

The goal of this paper is to develop a cylindrical patch antenna that provides a lower SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) value when used in human head. This antenna uses Rogers RO3206 (lossy) as the substrate material which has dielectric constant of 2.2. The size and the shape of the designed structure plays a vivacious role in determining the frequency of operation of the antenna i.e., the resonant frequencies. The antenna is simulated by using CST (Computer Simulation Technology) simulation software. The resultant optimized antenna provides a return loss of −18 dB at about 6.7GHz. The antenna resonates at 0.4GHZ (MICS band-Medical Implant Communication System). The proposed antenna provides a SAR value less than 1.6W/Kg in natural host.
