Sapovirus-Associated Severe, Prolonged Diarrhoea in an Autologous Stem-Cell Transplant Patient: Case Report and Literature Review

  • A man aged 44 was admitted to the hematology ward of Toulouse University Hospital in April 2017 for autologous stem cell transplantation as treatment of his Hodgkin’s lymphoma

  • Sapovirus is responsible for acute gastroenteritis in humans and animals

  • A study on a cohort of 16 renal transplant patients suffering from chronic diarrhoea associated with calicivirus, included 1 patient who was sapoviruspositive; his diarrhoea lasted 147 days and virus continued to be shed into his gut until day 157 [54]
