Abstract

The 2012 Society of Academic Primary CareConference held in Glasgow in October heardseven ‘dangerous ideas’ in a soapbox session,designed to be deliberately provocative. Each of thespeakers was allowed one slide and three minutesto state their case, followed by seven minutes oflively discussion. The one proviso was that speakershad to somehow justify their ideas while the audi-ence critically questioned and commented. Therather subversive suggestions included:
