Abstract
Le due recenti monografie — rispettivamente di David I. Kertzer e di Andrea Riccardi — sul pontificato di Pio XII nel tempo della Seconda guerra mondiale, pongono molte domande anche se di natura diversa: più assertive quelle proposte dallo storico americano. Più inquiete e storiograficamente generative quelle di Andrea Riccardi. Il tema non è più solo che cosa possa rivelare la nuova documentazione desecretata dal marzo 2020, ma soprattutto la capacità della storiografia di interrogare quei documenti, collegarli, e delineare nuove piste di ricerca.
