Abstract

Summary: Sansevieria rosulata T.G.Forrest, new species, is remarkable for the large number of flexible leaves and dense flowering habit. These features, and others, distinguish it from known large flat-leaved sansevieria in East Africa. Sansevieria rosulata is found at several locations in Eastern Uganda not very far from Mbale town. Because of the rapid loss of habitat, the taxon is largely restricted to rocky granite outcrops and large ant hills. It is considered threatened in the vulnerable category (VU).
