Abstract

The article examines the media discourse built around the information coverage of the sanction’s regimes in the economic publications of the Russian media. By the methods of qualitative and quantitative content analysis and statistical analysis, the author tries to find out what explains this or that reaction of the media to various sanctions reasons. Based on a sample of five thematic blocks for the period from 2014 to 2022, including more than 12,000 publications, the author comes to the conclusion that the issues of sanctions are insignificant for economic texts if they do not affect the projects of Russian companies. Separately, the author’s attention is drawn to the issue of subjectivity of journalists while covering the topic of sanctions. In conclusion, the presented thematic groups of journalistic texts are classified according to the specifics of the sanction’s topic disclosed in them.
