Dr Samuel Katz has led an illustrious career in Pediatrics. This review chronicles his educational path and love of teaching, the creativity of his scientific approach, his outstanding performance as the beloved chairman of a large academic department of pediatrics, and his astonishing record both as the developer of vaccines at the bench and as an international advocate for vaccination of children.
