Abstract

This research was carried out to determine the early period, yield and quality performances of some green bean cultivars grown under unheated glasshouse conditions during early spring season between 2001-2003 years. In this research, four dwarf type (Gina, Tina, Romano and Balkiz) and five runner type cultivars (Alman Ayse, Dade, Ozayse 16, 4F-89 and Zondra) were used as experiment material. Duration between first and last harvest dates for dwarf type cultivars was the same. However, Zondra cultivar, one of the runner type cultivars, was harvested earlier than the others in two years. 4F-89 cultivars was the latest harvested one in two years. There were significant differences among the cultivars regarding to pod yields. According to years, the highest mean pod yield was obtained from Gina (2.104 kg/da) and Zondra (2.884 kg/da) cultivars. As a result of the experiments, it was concluded that Gina (dwarf type) and Zondra (runner type) cultivars performed well if they were compared to the others during early spring season.
