Abstract

The sample pretreatment methods are constantly developing aiming to respond to the large variety of samples source and composition. For example, in order to preconcentrate toxic metals from liquid samples the most used methods are the extraction, based on extraction agents like chelates and ion-pairing are, used after the samples' digestion. Organic pollutants have different ways for extraction and preconcentration depending on the structure, concentration of the interest analyte and on the sample's provenience, like: liquid-liquid extraction (LLE), solid phase extraction (SPE), solid phase microextraction (SPME), microwave-assisted extraction (MAE), supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) etc. The available methods and techniques used for sampling and sample preparation in order to determine organic and inorganic pollutants in air, water, soil and biota samples are presented. To emphasize the sampling and sample preparation process, some original approaches concerning the accumulation factors of inorganic and organic pollutants in the Romanian Black seacoast ecosystem are presented.
