Abstract
We propose a novel design for a compact dispersion slope compensator based on sampled fiber Bragg gratings. By chirping the sample function in a sampled grating, we show that the dispersion slope can be controlled to match that of current transmission fibers. Interleaving several sampled gratings provides an effective technique to reduce UV-induced refractive index requirements to readily achievable levels.
