Abstract

Searching how a campy aesthetics shapes the condition of postmodern identity is the idea of this work. Referring to classical essay by Susan Sontag Notes on Camp, the author explores few levels of the problem. First one (Between Aestheticization and Axiology) emphasizes on the campy stylistics in the process of the aestheticization of reality, its axiology and dandyish tradition. In the second part (From The Romantic Irony to The Postmodern Aestheticization of Personality) author, drawing inspiration from Rorty’s philosophy, describes the specificity of the camp irony – showing its romantic roots and contemporary shape, also treating campy ironist as postmodern clown. The campy self-fulfilment comprises also carnality – that’s why the third part of this work (The Body-Identity-Performance) is about performative aspect of the campy body in view of as well the queer theory and practice as daily functioning of the body. In the last section (Individuality or Community?) the author concludes that strategies of campy subjectivity define postmodern personality and determine its scope: from the self-fullfiling individuality to solidary community.
