Abstract

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is planning a rulemaking on extended take‐home criteria for methadone patients in opioid treatment programs (OTPs). SAMHSA, along with the Drug Enforcement Administration, regulates OTPs. And OTPs, in their turn, not only are in favor of the proposed changes, but have also advocated for them. ADAW learned about the plan earlier this month (see “SAMHSA chief medical officer on methadone THs and ODs,” ADAW Sept. 12, https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/adaw.33547).
