Abstract

ABSTRACT The main purpose of the present study was to examine the typology of Palestinian student-teachers living in Israel according to four variables: (a) the type of motivation, (b) perceived suitability, (c) career choice satisfaction and (d) student-teacher commitment. Data were collected from 113 first-year Palestinian Arab students studying at teacher training colleges in Israel. questionnaires and interviews served as methods to collect data. cluster analysis was performed in order to distinguish between different types of student teachers. Results indicated that there were four different types of student-teachers: the ‘prophets’, the ‘convinced’, the ‘realist’ and the ‘sufferers’.
