Abstract
A new endemic species is described and illustrated from a botanically little known region of Jalisco, Western Mexico. The morphology of Salvia cacomensis J. G. Gonzalez, J. Morales et J. Rodriguez is more related with both sections Briquetia Epling and Tubiflorae (Epling) Epling of subg. Calosphace (Benth.) Benth. It manifests an intermediate state between them . However, the new taxon is distinguished by the combination of its essentially glabrous indumentum, the 1-flowered verticillasters, the magenta corollas, and the particular dimensions of the floral bract, calyx and corolla.
