Abstract
Methods: From July 2007 to February 2009, forty-six patients were treated with CyberKnife (Accuray, Sunnyvale, CA) at Hacettepe University Department of Radiation Oncology. All patients had recurrent, unresectable, and previously irradiated head and neck cancers. After immobilization with a thermoplastic face and neck mask, CT scans with 1mm slice thickness in treatment position were obtained from top of the skull to the thoracic inlet. The image acquisition was performed based on skullbone landmarks. For target volume delineation image fusion of MRI and planning CT was performed. The planning target volume (PTV) was defined as the gross tumor volume (GTV) identified on MRI and CT. There were 22 female, and 24 male patients. Median age was 53 years (range, 19-87). The median tumor dose with SBRT was 30 Gy (range, 18-35 Gy) in median 5 (1-5) fractions.
