Abstract

The authors present the case of a female 67-year-old patient suffering from multicentric reticulohistiocytosis concomitant with an adenocarcinoma in the area of the lower part of the pelvis. Under immunosuppressive corticosteroid therapy the patient had contracted salmonella arthritis of the right knee joint. This infection was completely cured after local treatment and systemic administration of appropriate antibiotics. Multicentric retriculohistiocytosis is associated with a malignoma in 30 per cent of cases. Salmonella arthritis can occur as a severe complication of immunosuppressive therapy.
