Abstract

SUMMARY Moore swabs were placed at the outfalls of three sewage works and at various points in the rivers above and below these outfalls. Over a 12-month period (June 1975 to June 1976) 29 different salmonella serotypes were isolated on 312 occasions and antibiotic sensitivity tests were carried out on some of these. E. coli and coliform counts were also carried out on the sewage effluents.
