Abstract

This article aims to explain how news concerning the issues of social inequality such as the exclusion of health right, compelling citizens living in hunger and poverty threshold to pay health insurance premium due to alterations in conceptions of the social state and public policies, and exclusion of those citizens from the scope of the state guarantee of health; have been presented in Islamist and alternative news media. Furthermore, this study tries also to take media texts into consideration, the news about paid health care services as an outcome of the radical alterations under the “Health Care Transformation Programme”. In order to demonstrate the ideological dimension in the news, Van Dijk’s critical discourse analysis method has been applied; thus we hope to attain to illustrate how dominant discourses have been established.
