Abstract

A new species of willow for the flora of Russia, Salix farriae C.R. Ball, is presented, found in the north of the Kamchatka Peninsula in 2011. A morphological description of this species and its differences from Salix hastata are given. It is quite probable that Salix farriae was also found on the Commander Islands, but additional full-fledged herbarium collections of plants with catkins are needed.
