Abstract

Salivary duct carcinoma (SDC) is one of the rarest and aggressive malignant neoplasms of salivary gland tumors. It is characterized by histomorphologic features reminiscent of the ductal carcinoma of breast, even with HER-2/neu oncoprotein overexpression. The prognosis is poor; more than 60% of patients will die within 5 years after diagnosis. The average age of diagnosis is more than 60 in literatures. Here, we reported a 41-year-old male with SDC of right submandibular gland. He received tumor excision, ipsilateral modified neck dissection, postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy. The patient is alive without evidence of recurrence or metastases 6 months after completing therapy.
