Abstract

Space, as a narrative device, has a decisive role in Sergio Chejfec’s essays, poems, short stories and novels. This article examines the ways in which landscape as a notion, in interaction with the gaze, provides a series of narrative possibilities that put in question notions conventionally related to narration forms in El llamado de la especie. Progress, development, causality are some of the issues that end up destabilized in the story as the space becomes the central concept of this narrative work.
