Abstract

After realizing the great potential of nuclear physics Saha started research in nuclear physics at Calcutta University. The struggle in building cyclotron, construction of electron microscope, large sized Wilson Cloud Chamber, beta ray spectrograph, overcoming administrative difficulties in setting up of Institute of Nuclear Physics (which was later renamed as Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics), research carried out at institute is described here in detail.
