Safety System on Local Network Smart Home

Abstract

A safety system in a smart home can provide more safety for residents of the house. In its implementation, the smart home system is very dependent on an internet connection. The system will be paralyzed if there is no internet, which makes the security system paralyzed too. Then it would decrease the level of home security. In this paper, a smart home safety system consists of two kinds of safety: preventing disaster and unauthorized access. The system is built in a local network, which does not need an internet connection to operate it. It will keep working though there is no internet connection. The safety system detects gas leaks using the MQ-2 sensor, senses fire using the DHT11 sensor and limits house access using the AS608 fingerprint sensor. In addition, the system utilizes actuators such as a buzzer, LED, and servo motor as the outputs sensor readings. The actuator will become active when the sensor reaches the specified parameters and conditions. The experimental results show that the safety system with a designed local network works properly. Also, it can be used as a security system in a smart home without internet.
