Abstract

Background Under deformations of the earth cover, arising, for example, due to landslides caused by earthquakes, underground pipelines can receive significant damage. Ensuring the protection of main oil pipelines from all sorts of deformations arising from seismic events is undoubtedly an important problem in regions characterized by a significant likelihood of landslides. Aims and Objectives The aim of the work is to study the issues of ensuring the protection of pipelines from landslide processes arising from seismic events. Results An optimization problem is formulated to achieve maximum protection of the main pipelines from landslides arising from seismic events. It’s model solution is given. Based on the solution of the optimization problem, a heuristic recommendation for choosing the route of the main oil pipeline, taking into account the location of the slopes on the route and the predicted location of the epicenter of the seismic event was developed.
