Abstract

Wire rope, also known as steel cable, is widely used in naval ships. The wire rope is subject to stress and bending in the process of use, while in long-term use, wire breakage, abrasion, rust and other damages will occur, resulting in the reduction of its strength and even cause safety accidents for crew members and equipment. Firstly, this paper analyzes the damage types and characteristics of naval ship's steel wire rope, summarizes two detection methods of steel wire rope damage detection and nondestructive detection. Aiming at three typical damage conditions of wire rope, we studied the safety evaluation method of wire rope damage detection results based on damage detection and strength loss.
