Abstract

Recently, traffic accidents including elderly drivers are increasing due to the aging society. This is related to a decline in driving ability of elderly drivers. Therefore, this research aims to develop a drive assistance function which can compensate the declined driving performance of elderly drivers. In the related researches, a driving assistance system with risk predictive brake control using the potential field method was constructed-: it assumes scenes where pedestrians might dart out from blind areas of occlusion. In this research, the Field Operational Test in public roads using a prototype vehicle is conducted, and the safety of the proposed autonomous driving intelligence system is evaluated by focusing on the velocity profile. As a result, driving safety can be enhanced by an autonomous driving intelligence system with risk predictive brake control and the risk information presentation of Head Up Display (HUD).
