Abstract

The burden of cervical cancer is high in low and middle income countries (LMIC) where access to curative radiation treatment is limited. A nonprofit organization donated a high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy afterloading unit to the sole cancer center in Senegal in 2013. We describe the initial experience of a novel treatment approach using pre-planned brachytherapy as a component of curative chemoradiation in Senegal.
