Abstract

This paper examines some of the problems involved in engineering safer braking systems which will be appropriate for modern road vehicles and traffic conditions. 2AH. Braking systems are becoming more complicated, mainly because of the influence of international regulations, but also to take account of technical improvements in performance, which can be achieved with advanced forms of control systems, including anti-locking brakes. The need to ensure maximum safety is emphasized; despite the increasing complexity and despite a shortage of accident know-how, increased road safety must always remain the ultimate objective.
