Saccades: is there a difference between right and left?

Abstract

In a previous paper, we collected data on the reliability of saccades. In the same set of experiments, we wanted to know whether we could distinguish a systematic difference in latency time and number of wrong saccades between stimuli to the right and those to the left. In this paper, we show that there is no difference in mean latency time between stimuli to the right and those to the left. With regard to the number of reflexive errors, however, there is a trend towards an absence of a difference. We do not need to consider differences between left and right when examining the saccades of normal young persons.
