Knowledge and traditional makes from the savanna are disclosed by the dwellers from Chapada dos Veadeiros – Goias, by their narratives that reveal the meeting between the nature and culture, but marked by the conflict of living in area of environmental preservation (Parque Nacional da Chapada dos Veadeiros) recognized by Unesco as humankind cultural patrimony. From the memory perspective by Walter Benjamin, the silecenced voices of these inhabitants – former prospectors, midwives and women that pray for sick people get better – were heard, allowing the construction of different looks on those knowledge: the richness of the region biodiversity; the multiple uses of plants, roots and flowers; the “medicines of the woods” that cure; “magic practices” that reveal the look of the popular culture. The records of the memories as the Dona Maria Chefe, Maria Barbosa and Dona Flor were achieved as having the presupposed theoretic and methodological, the oral history. The narrative constructed by each one reveals the vestiges of a tradition marked by distinct times, but it brings common elements. Those dwellers, when facing with the possibility of the extinction of those knowledge and makes, reveal strategies, that translate in the statement of their identities
