Abstract
Several factors influence patient and family understanding of pediatric endoscopic procedures. Additionally, more difficult aspects including bowel preparation may be difficult to convey with only written instructions. Video education can demonstrate information in an easy to understand format. Short Message Services (SMS) has been utilized in several patient-oriented educational activities. The vast usage of text messaging even among those at risk for health disparities suggests another potential avenue for improving care. The goal of this study is to demonstrate a methodology for effective pre-operative patient education through video and text messaging.
