Abstract

Motor complications observed in patients with advanced Parkinson's disease (PD) on oral medications might be due to impaired gastric emptying and fluctuating drug plasma levels. A novel treatment for PD involves the use of a percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy with jejunal extension tube (PEG-J) to provide continuous delivery of levodopa-carbidopa intestinal gel (LCIG) directly to the jejunum.
