Abstract

Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is an increasingly common technique for resection of early gastric cancers. Eight weeks proton pump inhibitor (PPI) treatment has been reported to heal patients with ESD induced artificial ulcer; however, anecdotally, not all patients are healed, particularly those with severe atrophic gastritis, for whom there is little data. We aimed to examine whether addition of the non-PPI mucosal healing agent, rebamipide after ESD improves healing rates, particularly in cases of severe atrophic gastritis.
