Abstract

Gastrointestinal strictures in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) cause bowel movement abnormalities and obstruction requiring surgical resection in some cases. With the recent development of balloon-assisted enteroscopy (BAE), small intestinal strictures can now be approached and Endoscopic balloon dilation (EBD) has become an alternative procedure for small intestinal strictures instead of surgical therapy. However, little data regarding EBD performed during BAE for intestinal strictures in IBD patients exists.
