Abstract

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) dysregulates physiological systems leading to elevated sympathetic tone and norepinephrine (NE) outflow, pronounced inflammation, and a >50% increased risk in developing comorbid cardiovascular diseases like hypertension (HTN). We hypothesized that NE increases T-lymphocyte-driven inflammation leading to HTN after trauma exposure.
