Abstract

A distinguishing feature of schizophrenia is the pervasive disorganization of thought. To the extent that thought processes emerge from the integration of information across complex networks, one might expect a disorganization of neuronal networks themselves in schizophrenia. In order to study cellular-level organization in cortical circuits, we evaluated synchronous activity and the transfer of information between neurons in mice carrying a deletion of the schizophrenia risk gene Dgcr8.
