Abstract

Until recently, plastic endoprostheses were routinely used for initial clearance of jaundice in pancreatic cancer patients (pts) until surgical candidacy or palliative care was established. Recent experience suggests all stages of pancreatic cancer pts have the potential to benefit from SEMS in view of their superior performance and low risk. Given that use in palliative pts is cost effective, we report growing experience with SEMS placement in surgical or borderline surgical pts.
