Abstract

The management of deep space infections from an odontogenic source has frequently been addressed in the literature and is common practice for most oral and maxillofacial surgeons. The principles of management include removal of odontogenic source (ie, extraction of the involved teeth or root canal therapy), draining the involved space(s), and providing appropriate empiric and culture directed antibiotic coverage.
