Abstract

The nickel base high temperature alloys are generally difficult-to-cut materials because of high thermal resistance, high work-hardening, high chemical activity and low thermal conductivity. This paper deals with machinability of grooving cutting by small ball end-milling tools for inconel 600 (solid-solution strength type) and inconel X750 (precipitation hardened type). The cutting distance to tool life has a longer inconel 600 than inconel X750. The surface roughness (Ra) has a smaller one of inconel 600 than inconel X750.
