Abstract
Tribological properties of copper based alloy modified with mechanical means based on plastic deformation near the surface region, consisting from a micro shot peening and a roller burnishing, surface plastic flow process were evaluated with a 3 ball on disc type apparatus mated with chromium alloy steel in dry condition. Bronze, suifide contained bronze and Corson (Cu-Ni-Si) alloys were used for the specimen because there was small difference of the thermal expansion factor and the mechanical properties such as elastic modulus and hardness among the alloys. Suifide powder was penetrated on the surface with the application of the surface plastic flow process. It was found that the suifide penetration is effective means to enhance anti-seizure properties. Effect of the thermal conductivity of the substrate on the tribological properties was discussed based on the heat flux at the interface.
