Abstract

The user hopes low-cost and low noise for a current reducer. Therefore, we paid attention to the rolling bearing diversion type traction drive which add function of the traction drive to the rolling bearing. Moreover, we have applied this function to the gear speed reducer, and we have developed the hybrid speed reducer that is available for speed reduction of two phases of the gear part and the traction drive. The problem in the case of using a rolling bearing as the traction drive is a sliding friction loss between the rolling element and the retainer. In this study, to reduce the sliding friction loss, we decide to improve this friction loss in between the rolling element and the retainer which were not performed in the previous study. The improvement method is to use PEEK resin which is superior mechanical character and sliding character in between the rolling element and the retainer. In conclusion, the maximal transmitting efficiency has improved approximately 4.2% in the retainer using PEEK compared with the PBC retainer.
