Abstract
If heterogenous of temperature arises on the free surface of fluid, a difference of surface tension will be appear and a thermocapillary flow will occur. In the thermocapillary flow research, there is a dimensionless number (Ma) showing the intensity of the thermocapillary flow and it is called Marangoni number. Furthermore, Ma is defined as the critical Marangoni number (Mac) when the standing flow transition to oscillatory flow in a certain difference in temperature. Although it is shown by the past research that this Mac changes a lot with the influences of the thermal boundary condition of the surroundings of the liquid bridges besides a difference in temperature, that mechanism is not yet solved deeply. So, in this research, we changed the low temperature side to various temperature, which influences a lot to the thermal boundary condition of the surroundings of the liquid bridges. And also added an ambient gas around the liquid bridge and solved the influence on Mac. And while clarifying the biot number, which is a parameter shows heat loss occur at the liquid bridge free surface, by measuring the thermal field of the surrounding of the liquid bridge by thermocouples, we solved the thermal boundary conditions influences a lot to the Mac tendency.
