Abstract

J-POWER has been engaged in R&D activity for IGCC and IGFC in "EAGLE" (coal Energy Application for Gas, Liquid and Electricity) project. In 2007, EAGLE Step2 phase was launched to demonstrate applicability of CO2 capture technology for IGCC. This paper focuses on various test results over 1,500-hour operation of pilot-scale CO2 capture test facilities. Designed CO2 recovery rate is 90% and CO2 purity is 99% or more. At the moment, basic characteristics of shift catalyst and MDEA solvent and energy requirement (heat and power duty) in each test condition are obtained. And these data are reflected to our case study of IGCC+CCS system and quantitatively evaluated in the form of impact on net power output (MW) or net plant efficiency (HHV%).
