Abstract

This paper shows the results of aero-elastic simulation on the fatigue load of a 1.5MW wind turbine model to clarify the effects of turbulence characteristics in complex terrain. The effects of turbulence intensity, longitudinal, lateral and normal component of the turbulence standard deviation of the wind speed fluctuations rerated to the bending moment at the blade root, low speed shaft and tower base are compared. The results showed that the correction model of the turbulence intensity for complex terrain described in the IEC 61400-1 Ed. 3 (2005) is very conservative for the normal operation mode in a design load condition.
