Abstract

We present a quantitative description of the s-polarized second-harmonic generation produced by mixing of the electron-heating pump wave and a weak s-polarized probe wave, taking into account inhomogeneous heating of electrons that affects the field distribution in metals. We reveal the effect of nonlinear second-harmonic pulse shortening.
