Abstract

The purpose of the research is to analyze and study the best practices of corporate social responsibility strategy implementation in large Russian businesses and to assess the level of its development in them. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the substantiation of the role of corporate social responsibility in the activities of large Russian businesses in the context of ESG theory in modern conditions. The research analyzes non-financial social reporting of companies and management's compliance with the «S»-components of ESG principles. It is established that today social reporting in the Russian business environment is only beginning to emerge as a mandatory component of the company's activities. The article contains recommendations about the necessity of integrating corporate social responsibility into the activities of Russian companies in order to solve socially important problems and increase the social responsibility of the business community to society. In the process of studying the non-financial reporting of the largest Russian companies in different sectors of the economy it has been concluded, that of introducing the "S"-component of ESG principles is necessary in order to achieve harmonious mutually beneficial relations between management and employees, suppliers and consumers, and other stakeholders, taking into consideration environmental and social aspects in business operations. It has been proved that the company's expenditures on solving socially important issues in the long term have a positive impact on the formation of a good business reputation, on the creation of a positive corporate image, on the increase of the investments’ inflow and profit, as well as expand the target audience. The work used such general scientific methods as comparative comparison, analysis, synthesis, and sampling. The results of the study can be used in teaching such courses of economic orientation as international economic relations, world economy, social and labor relations and business within the educational process in higher education.
