Abstract

Electric field profiles have been measured in an atmospheric pressure propane-air flame, seeded with cesium, by Rydberg state Stark spectroscopy with 780 and 380 V applied voltage between electrodes placed across the flame. The space-charge density at the flame edge has been estimated from the electric field gradient. The electrical conductivity has been calculated from the current density and the electric field measurements.
