Abstract

Recent research on extending the stream control transmission protocol (SCTP) multi-homing to support concurrent multipath transfer (CMT) has been in progress. The CMT, being capable of simultaneously transferring data chunks over all available paths, possesses the potential to increase the transmission throughput. In this paper, we will modify the Linux kernel SCTP module to implement CMT SCTP. Furthermore, by correlating the receiver window (RWND) extracted from the selective acknowledgement chunk with the data arrival rate from sender applications, we extend the arrival rate dependent (ARD) queuing model to our implemented system, named RWND based ARD-CMT SCTP. Therefore, we can dynamically adjust the transmission weights for different wireless links according to the transmission rate of mobile node and the RWND rate of corresponding node.
