Révolte et communion : le pouvoir performatif des émotions dans la poésie amérindienne et aborigène contemporaine

Abstract

Both coming from violent historical backgrounds of territorial conquests, Native American and Australian Aboriginal contemporary poetry reveal a common representation of emotions precisely characterized by a continuous motion between the inside and the outside, the individual and the community, identity and alterity, mankind and History. Through two anthologies respectively published in 1970 and 2002, My People written by Australian Aboriginal poet Oodgeroo Noonuccal, and How we became human. New and selected poems: 1975-2001 written by Native American poet Joy Harjo, we want to enlighten the way these two feminine figures’ commitment not only exceeds mere social and political involvement, but also invites the reader to think about mankind and to feel united with the world through poetic ecstasy.
