Abstract

Abstract A description is provided for Rutstroemia johnstonii [ Dencoeliopsis johnstonii ], which is fungicolous, and apparently very specific in its host species, which itself grows on dead woody material of Betula spp. Some information on its associated organisms and substrata, habitats, dispersal and transmission, and conservation status is given, along with details of its geographical distribution (North America (Canada (British Columbia)), Europe (Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Russia (Leningrad oblast, Tver oblast), Spain, Sweden, UK)). No evaluation has been made of any possible positive economic impact of this fungus and no reports of negative economic impacts have been found.
